A message from The NGLA Board of Directors

Welcome to the Northern Gulf Lacrosse Alliance,

This message goes out to all the NGLA club Directors, and our hope is that they will share this letter with you; the Coaches, parents and players.  We welcome you to what is going to be a great Spring of Lacrosse.

Many of you may not know why the NGLA was formed?  In an effort to make the Spring season more structured and consistent, the NGLA became a necessity.  The old GCLC served its purpose, but it was never a real league…, it was more of an idea amongst club directors and coaches.  The old Jamboree models are now gone and we move into real league play.  The NGLA was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) corporation in October, 2021.  This first year, the following clubs agreed to be a part of the Alliance:

  • Mobile
  • Perdido
  • Gulf Breeze
  • 5 Flags
  • Lower Alabama
  • Pensacola
  • Navarre
  • Niceville
  • 30A
  • UMS Wright

What will you see different this year?  Right off the bat, you will see your entire Spring schedule to include opponents and game times.  Certain age groups will always play in the same time block, allowing you to be able to plan your weekends and arrange transportation for your player if you cannot make it.  No longer will you be waiting until the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before your game day for the game times and opponent.  Every team will play each and every team in their age division across the 7 weekends of games.  Clubs are required to turn in rosters if they make changes going into a weekend set of games.  We have eliminated the floater players who always seem to make their way onto one or more of their club teams.  Costs of play, including referee costs, will be known to the clubs before the season starts.  The rules of play will be uniform and enforced with consistency to every extent possible.  Lastly and most importantly to the players, we have added a Championship weekend where the top 4 teams in each division will have a shot at being their age division champion!

What do we want from you?  Maybe some help cleaning up the fields after an event, or even help setting up.  We want your continued respect and support to our referees so that we can retain them and build a strong referee pool.  What we really want is for you to enjoy watching your son or daughter play Lacrosse and to have fun.

As the NGLA board, we hope you enjoy this coming Spring season.  Please provide feedback to your clubs so we know what can be done better and what is being done just right.

Honor the Game,

The NGLA Board of Directors
